LUMS NOP Outreach Expands Across Swat Valley
The LUMS National Outreach Programme recently extended its reach to the Swat Valley, conducting awareness sessions in six cities and engaging with 1,040 students from 13 colleges. This initiative focused on introducing students to the LUMS NOP Summer Coaching Session 2025, guiding them on available programs, and encouraging applications from talented individuals across the region.
The outreach included visits to prominent institutions such as Edward College (Boys and Girls) and Islamia Model College in Timmergara, Govt. PG Jahanzeb College Swat, Cadet College Swat, and Dr. Khan Shaheed Govt. Degree College Kabal. Other notable institutions included Tipu Shaheed School and College in Kabal, The Peace College and Government Girls Degree College in Kanju, and Dawn School and College in Mingora. The sessions provided students with critical insights into LUMS’ academic programs and the admissions process while fostering a connection between the university and the region's educational institutions.
For the first time, the NOP team visited the areas of Kabal and Kanju, where significant interest was shown by principals and administrators. These institutions were eager to collaborate further and encourage their students to pursue opportunities at LUMS. A highlight of the outreach was the return to Cadet College Swat after several years. The administration responded positively, and the cadets displayed strong eligibility for the NOP, showcasing the potential for military-oriented institutions to contribute to the diversity of LUMS’ student body.
The sessions also emphasized career guidance, particularly for pre-medical students. Participants were introduced to fields in SBASSE and other dynamic majors offered at LUMS. Students from FA backgrounds were encouraged to explore the MGSHSS programs, aligning their interests with the pathways available at the university. These interactions not only provided practical advice on academic opportunities but also inspired students to consider the possibilities of higher education at LUMS.
The outreach efforts in Swat Valley also helped establish new partnerships with local educational stakeholders. Principals and administrators expressed enthusiasm for future collaboration with LUMS, laying the foundation for sustained engagement in the region. This interest underscores the commitment of Swat Valley's educational leaders to support their students in achieving academic excellence.
By connecting with over 1,000 students and engaging a diverse range of institutions, the LUMS NOP team has significantly broadened its impact in the Swat Valley. These efforts highlight LUMS’ dedication to creating opportunities for students in underserved areas and building pathways to higher education. With the encouraging response from the region, the NOP team looks forward to further strengthening relationships in Swat and continuing to empower the next generation of leaders.
