Eligibility Criteria

Students applying to the LUMS National Outreach Programme (NOP) must meet the following eligibility criteria:

At least 80% marks in Matriculation or equivalent grades in O-Levels.

Demonstrated financial need.

Applicants are shortlisted on the basis of their academic performance and financial need and invited to participate in the NOP Summer Coaching Session (SCS). During the session, students undertake academic exercises, assessments and tests designed to evaluate their preparedness for the rigorous academic environment at LUMS.

Candidates who successfully complete the required assessments and meet the programme's selection criteria proceed to the next stage of the admissions process, including registration for the relevant admission test, funded by LUMS.

All applicants, whether applying through NOP or the regular admissions process, are evaluated against the same rigorous admission criteria. Admission is awarded on merit, while eligibility for the NOP scholarship is determined through a comprehensive financial need assessment.

A dedicated review committee evaluates applicants' financial circumstances to ensure a transparent and equitable scholarship selection process. Financial need is reassessed annually throughout a scholar's undergraduate studies.

Application Process

The NOP selection process comprises the following stages:

Outreach and Awareness: The NOP team visits schools and colleges in cities, towns and villages across Pakistan, conducting information sessions to introduce students to the programme and its opportunities.

Summer Coaching Session Application: Eligible students submit their applications for the NOP Summer Coaching Session. Shortlisted candidates are invited to LUMS to participate in an intensive academic preparation programme and experience university life.

Assessment and Shortlisting: Participants are assessed on their performance during the Summer Coaching Session. Successful candidates who meet the programme's academic and other selection requirements proceed to the undergraduate admissions stage.

Undergraduate Admission and Testing: Successful SCS candidates apply for admission to LUMS alongside other undergraduate applicants and complete the required admission test. LUMS covers the applicable admission application processing and test registration fees for qualifying NOP candidates.

Financial Need Assessment and Scholarship Award: Candidates who secure admission on merit and meet the financial need assessment criteria are eligible to receive a fully funded NOP scholarship for their undergraduate studies at LUMS.

Students from all regions of Pakistan are encouraged to apply, provided they meet the academic and financial eligibility criteria. Selection is based on merit and demonstrated financial need, with no regional, ethnic or extracurricular quotas.

How to Apply

Students who meet the eligibility criteria can apply by following the steps below.

Step 1–Apply to the NOP Summer Coaching Session (SCS)

Students can apply to the NOP Summer Coaching Session during the first year of Intermediate or A-Levels.

Applicants should ensure that all required information and supporting documents are submitted by the specified deadlines.

Step 2–Spend Two Weeks at LUMS

Shortlisted candidates are invited to participate in a two-week Summer Coaching Session at LUMS during the summer holidays.

The session offers an opportunity to experience university life, engage in intensive academic preparation and prepare for the LUMS admission test. Participants also undergo assessments to evaluate their academic potential and readiness for undergraduate studies.

LUMS covers all expenses associated with the Summer Coaching Session, except travel costs. Progression to the undergraduate admissions stage is determined by performance during the session and fulfilment of the programme's selection requirements.

Step 3 – Apply for LUMS Admission

Successful SCS participants who wish to pursue an undergraduate degree at LUMS must complete the online undergraduate admission application through:

LUMS covers the one-time admission application processing and test registration fees for qualifying candidates.

Applicants must meet the university's academic admission requirements and complete the financial need assessment process. Candidates who secure admission on merit and demonstrate the requisite financial need are eligible to join LUMS as NOP scholars with full financial assistance.

Admission Test

Candidates shortlisted following the Summer Coaching Session are guided through the admission test registration process in accordance with the university's undergraduate admission requirements.

LUMS covers the applicable test registration fee for qualifying NOP candidates. Students must complete the required admission test and submit their undergraduate admission applications within the specified deadlines.

Admission decisions are based on the same academic merit criteria applied to all LUMS undergraduate applicants. Candidates who qualify for admission and meet the financial need assessment requirements are eligible for the NOP scholarship.

Admission decisions are communicated according to the university's annual undergraduate admissions schedule.
