LUMS NOP Awareness Sessions: Expanding Educational Access in Gilgit-Baltistan
LUMS recently carried out a series of NOP Awareness sessions across Gilgit-Baltistan, visiting 31 colleges in 13 cities including Skardu, Kharmang, Roundu, Shigar, and Khaplu. These sessions reached 1,510 students, aiming to introduce them to higher education opportunities and provide career counseling.
For the first time, the team visited institutions in Murtazabad, Sost, Kharmang, Shigar, Khaplu, and Roundu, strengthening ties with local communities. A special session was held at Uswa College in Skardu, where 15 students selected for SCS 2024 prepared for their LUMS admissions. In Shigar, an SCS 2024 participant from the area assisted with the session, sharing his experience, and motivating junior students to apply for NOP SCS.
Throughout the sessions, students from FA backgrounds were encouraged to explore the MGSHSS programs at LUMS. Pre-medical students were introduced to career options in SBASSE and other dynamic fields offered by the university. Teachers and counselors were also provided with guidance on how to complete the SCS 2025 application, ensuring students have the support they need.
Additionally, Alumni Stories were shared to inspire students, while SCS 2024 participants offered advice to new candidates applying for SCS 2025.
These efforts reflect LUMS’ ongoing commitment to broadening access to education and supporting future leaders through the National Outreach Programme. We continue to foster connections with local schools to help students from all backgrounds pursue their academic goals.
