Dr. Zehra Waheed is a faculty member in Operations Management at the Suleman Dawood School of Business, LUMS. Her expertise lies at the intersection of project management, sustainability, and public-sector service delivery, with a particular focus on how complex projects, institutional arrangements, and service systems are designed, governed, and implemented in emerging-economy contexts. Her academic and applied work spans energy transitions, public service provisioning, solid waste management, project management, renewable energy, and responsible business.

Her research examines how organizations and institutions respond to uncertainty, manage complexity, and create public value through projects and service systems. She is particularly interested in the governance of large and complex projects, sustainability transitions in sectors such as energy and urban services, and the challenges of translating policy intent into implementation practice. Her broader work also engages with questions of institutional capability, facilities and infrastructure systems, and the role of responsible management in shaping developmental outcomes.

Alongside her academic work, she has held several leadership roles at LUMS, including Associate Dean for SDSB Undergraduate Programs, Interim Dean - Office of Student Affairs, Founding Director of the Centre for Business and Society, and Area Convenor of the Operations and Information Technology Group. Her work is deeply practice-oriented and informed by sustained engagement with industry, government, and the development sector. Through the Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC), she has led the Project Management portfolio for several years, designing and delivering executive programs for major public-and private-sector organizations in construction, energy, oil and gas, and development. Her board and advisory roles at Private and Public-Sector Enterprises further reflect her long-standing interest in the connection between management practice, public systems, sustainability, and institutional change.
